Procrastination–The Story of My Life

In a word? GAH!! Now matter how hard I try, it seems procrastination always sneaks up on me. I tell myself at the beginning of every month (more like every day) to stop procrastinating and aim for productivity!! And I can even put forth the effort..but does it work? Nope.

Procrastination is as simple as saying, “It’s 7:52 now, I’ll just wait until 8:00 to get in the shower.” OR “I’ll get off my phone in just a few minutes. At 10:50, I’ll get off.” But when 10:50 p.m. comes around, I’m still staring at my screen scrolling, double-tapping, pinning, and sharing.๐Ÿ˜‘ Sure, I could cut out social media entirely. But that would be really hard. The best thing about taking pictures is being able to share them with others!

Since social media is the main culprit of procrastination, let’s focus on that.

What to do? What to do?๐Ÿ’ญ

Here’s what I’ve found to be helpful..

1) Really ๐Ÿ”Žsearching through your “following” list and unfollowing any who either post very frequently/or are large accounts like photography, nature, travel, etc. Not to mention those you’re following who you’re not even acquainted with. These drastically reduce the amount of scrolling time.

2) Think about before you had all of these social media accounts! Did you feel like you were missing anything? How many productive and beneficial things were you able to accomplish?

3) Post things that are worth sharing! What do I mean by that? Is it another picture of your food?ย  While yes, at times, we have to post that occasional food pic! But could you do without posting it just this once? Are you just posting to post? It sounds silly..but it’s true! Sometimes I’ve found myself searchingย for a reason to post. Just because. So before you upload that picture, ask yourself a few questions.

4) Take a digital detox every once in a while! Whether it’s for one week, or two, maybe even a month (if you can last that long๐Ÿ˜‰)…DO. IT. Not only will it help your phone’s battery, but it will also allow you to recharge yours.

Instead of checking your phone as soon as you wake up, go outside and get a little exercise! I know, I know. I check my phone to help me wake up too, but in reality, getting up and moving is the best way to wake up. Even if it’s just for 30 minutes and you walk/jog, you will have so much brain power that it will blow. your. mind.

Well those are the main things that have helped me personally..but what have you found to be helpful when it comes to beating procrastination?๐Ÿ‘Š

Have you checked out my “About Me” page??

{And yes, I do realize that this is kind of ironic considering that I’m writing this on social media. But hey–what are you gonna do?}

  2. Ahhh, yes. Procrastination. I’ve been procrastinating before I even had a computer, haha. It really does sneak up on you! Great post, good advise…. That said, I too wake up with my phone. And most nights scrolling, tapping, pinning, liking, etc etc. I do love me some Pinterest! Haha. And now the blogging, lol. I’m enjoying your blog so far! ๐Ÿ˜€
